For all foodies and gourmets we would like to highlight a culinary festival in the heart of Zurich. For more than 10 days you can attend to over 100 events all related to food and beverage. Walk along the Limmat, taste some street food, pick a professional cookery course or a guided tour maybe. This year the event has a new venue as the main point of interest, the Europaalee is in the middle of town and awaits you with several programs. On the upper end of Lake Zurich in the town of roses, three stages are waiting for the blues and jazz lovers. Julius Baer Swiss E-Prix – the Formula E Championship in Bern

After the Julius Baer Zurich E-Prix, the successful racing series is coming to Switzerland, this time to Bern.
As part of the 2019 ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the racing drivers will speed through the center of town in their quiet, lightweight racing cars. Ballet for All

After the great success of the free open-air opera nights, here is a new event for those who like ballet.
Ballet for All will broadcast live a performance from the Opera House at Sechseläutenplatz.
Visitors can enjoy this spectacular show on a big screen while sitting on a blanket or folding chairs having a picnic.
The dance story of Rome and Juliet is choreographed by Christian Spuck and accompanied by the Philharmonia Zurich.

53 Montreux Jazz Festival

Taking place in Montreux surrounded by the picturesque Lake Geneva, this festival is one of the greatest jazz festivals and attracts a quarter million people every year who wish to celebrate music. Although jazz represents the main theme of the festival, some other musical styles are implemented as well to make the scene more diverse. The organizers also think it’s important to make music available to everyone. Hence, all visitors can contribute on multiple free venues.

Moon&Stars

This international pop-rock festival is held in the unique setting of Locarno, on the spectacular square Piazza Grande. The event lasts nine evenings with nine concerts featuring top stars such as Christina Aguilera, Snow Patrol, Jamiroquai or Emeli Sandé. The Mediterranean –style town becomes a summer capital of Switzerland, and its romantic square turns into a giant arena surrounded by thousands of music fans. Bregenz Festival

Longing for an open-air opera night? A special scene awaits the classical music lovers on Bregenz Festival, with the stage standing literally on Lake Constance. The event was first held one year after the Second World War ended and has attracted huge audience since then. Visitors coming from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France made the festival an international success. Many productions are broadcasted for TV viewers, but the live act and breath-taking settings give unique experience to visitors without doubt. Laver Cup in Geneva

The convention center, Palexpo, in Geneva is host to the third edition of the Laver Cup 2019. This three-day indoor men’s tennis competition between two teams (Team Europe and Team World) takes place soon after the US Open with the location rotating. Captain Björn Borg will put together a world-class European team, so much so that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will once again become teammates. The Swiss tennis star is really grateful to play Laver Cup in his home country. Most of the tickets are sold out already, but some packages are still available. The ZÜRICH TANZT dance festival

To all dance lovers, this festival offers you various events in public places and sold-out locations all over the city of Zurich. Numerous courses, performances, movies and parties are held on the theme of dance and movement. The centre of the program is Zurich Main Train Station. Here, everybody is invited to take part in different styles of dance. Live bands and DJs dictate the rhythm and make the ceilings of the train station vibrate. Sechseläuten - Spring Festival in Zurich

Every year the residents of Zurich greet the spring with a joyful festival, held on the third Monday of April. The parade fills the city centre with colors, people are marching in historical guild costumes together with hundreds of horses and much else.
The traditional festival goes all the way back to the 16th century, and originally was related to the extension of working hours due to the longer daytime. On Sunday (this year on 7 April) a children's procession opens the celebration, next day the main festival goes on, where a symbolic snowman, called the Böögg, is going to be set on fire.

Carneval in Basel

We suggest you another carnival to discover: the event being defined as the “three best days” in Basel.
The celebration begins on Monday after Ash Wednesday with a really special march. At 4 a.m. sharp for the “Morgestraich”, all lights in the city are switched off and around 200 artistically decorated lanterns start glowing in the dark. Doesn’t it sound charming? The lanterns are placed afterwards on the Münsterplatz for the public to admire. See the complete program here.

Slowup Zürichsee

SlowUp allows all residents and visitors of Zurich area to discover the lake side without the usual hustle of the daily traffic. The event takes place on a 30 km (19 mile) route between Meilen, Rapperswil-Jona and Schmerikon. For one day, a leisurely atmosphere takes over the road, free of professional athletes and motorized traffic. This road surrounded by picturesque scenery offers much more than just traffic lights and signs.
Route will be open for bikers, skaters and other non-motorized participants from 9.00am – 6.00pm. In the towns involved there will be food stands, bars and many more attractions for the young and young at heart.

Knabenschiessen

Knabenschiessen is a traditional target shooting competition organised by Zurich's marksmen club since 1899. Originally the participants could be only young boys, however since 1991 it was extended to girls too. Year by year about 5000 kids take part in this event held on the second weekend of September. The world-famous Cirque du Soleil is coming back to Zurich this fall. The acrobatic circus from Canada is presenting its show, “Totem”, at the Hardturm Areal in Zurich-West.

54th Zurich Limmatschwimmen

This is the only time of the year when people are allowed to swim down on Limmat river to Zurich centre, from “Frauenbadi” to “Oberen Letten”. How fun is it to swim there viewing the picturesque downtown on a hot sunny day?
The Limmatschwimmen traditionally starts with the competition swimmers at 12 clock. Afterwards it's the turn of all the people who would like to swim for fun. You can take your swim bag with you or purchase one there.

Swiss National Day

While this date was officially declared a national holiday only in 1994, it goes back to 1291 when three Alpine cantons have founded Switzerland. On this day, many people decorate their houses with Swiss Flags and most families use this work-free day to grill in one of the gorgeous parks. In Zurich a street parade starts at 10:15 am in the downtown area. Traditional folk music, culinary experiences and many other attractions are waiting for the celebrating crowd on Bürkliplatz.

To our younger minded guests we would like to recommend a pre party the night before the Swiss National Day.
The so called exTELLent party is now a tradition held in the club Plaza in Zurich. It starts at 18:00 in Ankerstrasse with a breezy street parade with live music and DJ sessions, entry is free. Zurich Triathlon & IRONMAN

A challenging weekend
From Friday visitors can get ready for the sport events with trainings, IRONMAN expo and  food village. Saturday morning opens with the Zurich Triathlon at 8:00, then in the afternoon (14:00-18:00) the fittest companies in Switzerland are competing to find the sportiest of all. There will be three categories, female, male and mixed. One team consists of three members and everyone completes one discipline: running, biking or swimming. The event takes place in Landwiese, the upper West side of Lake Zurich.

This Triathlon is only the warm-up for the big contest, IRONMAN, held on Sunday from 6:40. The superhero participants need to complete more than 200 km distance swimming, running and by bike. Check the official website for more details.

Zurich Festival - Theater, Art and Music all in one Festival

Zurich’s venues will demonstrate their variety throughout June.
This festival is organized every two years together with Zurich’s cultural institutions such as the Zurich Opera House, Schauspielhaus (municipal theater), Tonhalle orchestra and Kunsthaus Zurich.
